Mock Draft 5.0 (Matthew Valdovinos)

*This mock was made under the impression that Kirk Cousins will NOT be a Redskin in 2018*

1. Josh Allen, QB (Wyoming)

If the Redskins do allow Kirk Cousins to leave, then the first and most important task of the off season is finding his replacement. They could look towards free agency, but my guess is they’ll fall in love with a certain prospect in the draft. Josh Rosen and Sam Darnold are pretty much out of the questions as they’re both nearly guaranteed top-5 picks, but Allen is a different story. Arguably the best prospect in the entire draft class, Allen has all the natural tools to be an elite quarterback. He’s got incredible size, athleticism, and a true gift from above in his right arm. He needs to clean up his decision making, and shore up his accuracy, but once he gets that done he’ll have everything he needs to become a perennial pro bowler. On top of it all, he came back from injury to play one final game with his teammates, and balled out in his bowl game against Central Michigan. As long as the Redskins don’t rush him, and they let him sit behind Colt for a couple games, he could become the Redskins franchise quarterback for 15+ years. Allen will bring more pure talent to the Redskins than Kirk Cousins ever did, is just a matter of his development.

2. Damien Harris, RB (Alabama)
Arguably my favorite  college running-back not named “Saquon Barkley,” Damien Harris has all the tools to be a workhorse back at the next level. Harris is kind of the forgotten player in Alabama’s backfield, but he’s probably the best overall player the team has on offense. He’s fast enough to produce big plays, but he also bring a lot of power with his 5’11 215 frame. He’s also got excellent  vision and always seems to find the whole. When watching him play you almost never see him get taken down behind the line of scrimmage, throw in his ability to pass block and you have a real threat in the backfield. The Redskins could also look at a multitude of other running-backs in the second as this class is very deep in talent between rounds 2-4.

3. Billy Price, G/C (Ohio State)
Very similar to Chase Roullier, a big, strong, and versatile offensive lineman. The Redskins depth has been challenged all season due to the incredible amount of injuries they’ve had to deal with. Having players like Roullier, Price, and Spencer Long (if they choose to resign him), are very beneficial because they can play all along the middle of the line. Adding a player like Price to Bill Callahan’s line, and you’ve got something scary, even if he doesn’t start right away, that a hell of a backup. It makes things like injuries a lot easier to deal with.

4. B.J. Hill - NC State - DE/DT

5. Jaleel Scot - New Mexico State - WR

6. T.J. Edwards - Wisconsin - ILB

7. Drue Tranquill - Notre Dame - S
