POSITION : Tackle
HEIGHT / WEIGHT : 6'6 / 288
DRAFT PROJECTION : 1st
ME : First things first, not everyone gets to say they have declared for the NFL Draft, it’s a huge privilege that only the most talented players on the planet get to say. So, how excited are you to embark on this next chapter?
CONNOR : It was a very tough decision that was made between my family and I. After weighing all the options it came down to what was the best decision for my future. I am very blessed to be able to pursue this dream of mine. It is an incredible opportunity and I look forward to the journey.
ME : What was your favorite memory in your time playing college football?
CONNOR : My favorite memory of college came down to two different games throughout my college career. The red river rivalry year in and year out was the best. That experience of running into the cotton bowl with the stadium split in half was always incredible. It is an atmosphere unlike anything in college football. My second favorite is beating Notre Dame at home after a complete embarrassment of a game the year before in South Bend. When our Quarterback, Tyrone Swoops dove into the end zone and 100,000 fan’s arms shot up was a sight that brought tears to my eyes.
ME : What has your time in college done to help prepare you for the next level of football?
CONNOR : Through my journey of 3 years at Texas, I have been able to play under 3 different offensive line coaches and coordinators. This has required me to understand and grasp different schemes and offensive line techniques quickly. Also playing in the Big12, I have been fortunate enough to face many great defensive fronts and individuals from a variety of defensive schemes.
ME : What do you believe you excel at the most when you are on the football field?
CONNOR : I believe my strength on the football field is speed, power, and technique. I focus a lot of my time on footwork to be able to move well with a bend which transitions to having great technique. Power is something you can always improve through the weight room.
ME : Is there a certain Offensive Lineman in the NFL that you look at and say ‘ This is what i want to be in the NFL’ or ‘I see alot of myself in this guy’ ?
CONNOR : I love watching a variety of offensive linemen and being able to observe their different play. Playing left tackle is an art and every tackle takes a different approach and has specific differences that make them who they are.
ME : What NFL team did you root for growing up? What player(s) did you idolize growing up as well?
CONNOR : Growing up my family were big Cowboys fans. But through elementary school I never followed one team in particular. Having my named called and being able to play for any NFL team would be a privilege in itself and they would be my new favorite team.
ME : How do you believe you stack up with the other Offensive Lineman in this 2018 Class?
CONNOR : I believe there are some great offensive linemen in this class as there are in any class. They have my respect because I know what it takes to get this far. I look forward to competing against them and sharpening each other.
ME : If football wasn’t your main passion, what do you envision yourself doing as a career? What are some of your hobbies/interests?
CONNOR : Growing up I have always enjoyed cooking. I watch food channel whenever I have free time. I enjoy getting in the kitchen and cooking up meals for people.
ME : Is there anything else that you would like to add?
CONNOR : I look forward to this adventure and thank you for the support while I embark on this journey. I am already well under way hard at work preparing and cannot wait to get on the field.
