Robert Davis Q&A

Q1 : What was going through your head when you were notified that you were being promoted to the 53-Man Roster?
"A lot goes through your mind when you feel like you're getting closer to your dreams, but my immediate thought was that it was a blessing from God."

Q2 : How has your time on the Practice Squad helped you prepare for the time that you’d be able to play in a game?
"It has helped a lot, I knew coming in that I had a lot to develop in my game in order to be a successful NFL receiver and I still have a ways to go, but being able to sit back and learn from guys like Josh Doctson, Brian Quick, Ryan Grant, Maurice Harris, Terrelle Pryor and Jamison Crowder really helps."

Q3 : I personally thought the 53-Man Roster was inevitable for you, it might’ve taken a little longer than most expected, but just how rewarding does it feel?
"I only control what I can control, I have faith in the coaching staff here, and I believe they put players in the best position to be successful, it just wasn't my turn yet. It's definitely a rewarding feeling to be able to say I've reached another milestone in life, and being able to see how proud my parents are of me is priceless."

Q4 : What do you think you are best at when you are on the field? What is your strong suit as a wide receiver? Is there a certain spot you’d prefer to be at when you’re out there?
"Physicality is my best strength, being able to block in the run game and make aggressive plays on special teams using my athletic ability. That is something I feel I could bring to the team right now."

Q5 : Is there a certain Wide Receiver that plays or used to play who you try to tailor your game after?
"I watch a lot of different receivers techniques around the NFL but I've learned the most from the guys on the team."

Q6 : Do you think you will have any nerves when you get out there on the field this Sunday?
"Of course , that's human nature. I'm not too big and bad to say I don't get butterflies, that's what the game is all about. That's a feeling that, after football, you will never be able to match again in life."

Q7 : If there was one message you could give to any of your doubters right now, what would it be?
"Doubters really don't matter man, I play to glorify the lord and make the people that I love and that love me proud, that's it."
Robert Davis (22 years old) was drafted by the Redskins in the sixth round of the 2017 NFL Draft. Davis has been developing and growing on the practice squad, and it has finally paid off, as he was rewarded with a roster spot on Monday. He will be playing in his first regular season game this Sunday against the Chargers. It is yet to be known how many snaps the rookie will get, but this is a great step in the right direction for him.
